Clay Hill Corners is a small market garden and blueberry farm on seven acres owned by Carol Stedman and Marty Banak. We provide fresh local foods to our neighbors and the local communities of Hartland, Quechee, Windsor and Hartford. Our passion is to grow year round in Vermont and we extend our short growing season with an insulated solar greenhouse and a hoophouse. Blueberries, flowers, and 'Spicy Greens' mesclun mix are our specialties. We host the Clay Hill Corners CSA which is a neighborhood group of growers providing a broad range of vegetables, eggs, and local products to 20 local households from mid April to November. Our Farm Store is another way to purchase local produce and we can be found at various local farm events and markets in the area throughout the year.

A special holiday market will be held on December 14th from 2 PM-6PM.

What's New

Autumn at the Farm

We have been weeding and top dressing the asparagus beds and are hoping for an abundant spring crop. We have nearly 100 plants.

We will be planting garlic next week to coincide with the full moon.

We are harvesting many fall crops now including collard greens, tomatoes, spicy greens, kales, swiss chard, bok choy, beets, leeks, parsley, and sage.

Winter markets begin in November. Come see us in Hartland, Woodstock, or Brattleboro.

Inch by inch, row by row, we're turning the beds in the greenhouse from summer crops to fall and winter greens such as spinach, cress, winter lettuces, and mache.

Our autumn jam flavors are mostly from our freezer storage of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and currants. Soon, we will add fresh cranberries from Bob Lesnikoski of the Vermont Cranberry Company. Some recent flavors include Verry Berry, Raspberry Lemon Balm, Cranberry Marmalade, Blueberry Marmalade, Champagne Blueberry, and Strawberry Rhubarb.

Our quiches are available at Upper Valley Coop in White River Junction and Dan and Whits and Killdeer Farm Stand in Norwich. Some recent flavors include Broccoli, Roasted Late Summer Vegetable, Delicata Squash and Swiss Chard, Leek and Zucchini Feta, Tomato Basil, and Butternut Squash.

Our own Hartland Granola can now be found at Dan and Whit's. Pick some up when you pick up a quiche! We have three flavors: Almond Coconut, Maple Pecan, and Cinnamon Apple.

Marty has taken on the huge job of mulching the blueberries as his pace at Wilderness Trails has slowed due to Tropical Storm Irene.

We've started shelling dried beans for the months to come and will continue to do so as the weather turns frosty.

The ducks! Our Indian Runner ducks are now 17 weeks old. Most ducks start laying between 18-20 weeks. Indian Runner duck eggs are particularly wonderful as they are yolk-rich and delicious.

Typically we are picking Blueberries in our fields from late July through early September. Our blueberries are available at Upper Valley Coop (White River Junction), the Ottauquechee Country Store, Woodstock Market on the Green, and Hartland Farmers Market, or call 802-296-2032 to order.
