| Who We Are
We began as a group of neighborhood farmers and gardeners gathering together to share delicious potluck meals of fresh local foods. In the process we started exchanging ideas about extending the Vermont growing and storage season and dreaming about the possibilities of producing more food for our neighbors and ourselves. It started with trading eggs for greens, granola for vegetables and quiche for pie. Our potluck lunches began to consume whole afternoons as our ideas blossomed. Clay Hill Collective was born in the spring of 2008 as a small CSA with 5 producers- Carol S, the greens lady, Sharon the egg lady, Carol T the granola lady, Silvia the seed lady, and Linda the llama lady. Soon Chris, the garlic lady, joined us and we began our CSA in April. By mid summer several more neighborhood growers were contributing and we were on our way.
What Makes Us Unique? In addition to produce grown at Clay Hill Corners we draw from a neighborhood collective of growers and producers. We extend the local growing season with a solar greenhouse, hoop houses and row covers. We store winter crops and we preserve foods by canning, freezing and drying. We try to give you a balanced assortment of in season foods each week.
Eating Locally & In Season
We believe in the sanity of eating locally produced foods whenever possible in order to create a more sustainable economy and lifestyle. This should be delicious, fun and joyful. As a collective and a community we invite you to experience this with us.
